This is a presentation which Cherie created that introduces us to bee-bots and tells us a little of what Cherie’s been achieving with her students this year.

Nicole Sprainger has also posted the presentation from the Term 1 Seminar at DAC on the Bee-Bots Downunder blog.

The good news is that Nicole is arranging an order of Bee-Bots for schools.  I’ve asked Nicole to order four for us, which will allow us to double the number of bee-bots we currently have.  Once we have our own, we can return our loan pair to CEO and give another school the chance to discover these fantastic learning tools.

When I walked into the staff room this week only to hear Cherie say “I want my Bee-bots back…”, I knew we were in for some fun.  Not only that, but Cherie’s kindergarten students have really taken to them quickly.  Her account of their achievements is nothing short of extraordinary, especially given the relatively short amount of exposure they’ve had to the “little critters”.

Cherie has posted pictures and a written account of the great things happening in KB at the Bee-Bots Downunder Blog.

Bee-bot Display

St. Michael’s now has its loan of the Bee-bot bundle from CEO.  These fun, programmable robots can help children learn position and direction, and much more.  See Cherie if you’d like to borrow the bundle for use in your class – there are play mats, resources and more.  Certainly our teachers have already had some fun with the bee-bots when they were on display today in the staffroom.

To find out more about the bee-bots, and how they’re being used in Parramatta Diocesan Schools, visit the Bee-Bots Downunder blog.
